Safeguarding children

Safety, voice and dignity come first.

Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility. Mechex is developing a detailed safeguarding write-up; this public page is a concise overview and does not replace the controlled policies or professional safeguarding procedures.

Our priority

Children should feel safe, heard and protected.

Safeguarding runs through matching, care planning, everyday relationships, education, community life, professional communication and review. Detailed procedures will be added when the client-approved safeguarding content is available.

Public safeguarding overview

Clear principles for safe care.

These themes describe the areas of safeguarding practice that professionals and families can expect to be addressed. They are not a substitute for the home's detailed policies, procedures or an individual child's plan.

Child protection

Safeguarding and child protection are the highest priorities. Decisions are made around the child's welfare, safety, dignity and individual needs.

Children's voice

Children should be listened to and supported to express their wishes, feelings and concerns in ways that are appropriate for them.

Risk and protection

Risk is considered through assessment, care planning, supervision and review, including risks linked to missing episodes, exploitation and online safety.

Safer people and practice

Suitability, role requirements, training, supervision and professional accountability are part of creating a safe residential environment.

Oversight and learning

Safeguarding practice is reviewed through management oversight, professional partnership, incident learning and quality assurance.

Raising a concern

Children, families and professionals should use their established safeguarding route. Urgent concerns should be reported to the relevant local authority or emergency service.

Professional oversight

The Registered Manager, provider leadership and relevant professionals work together to keep safeguarding visible in decisions and review.

Detailed information pending

The fuller safeguarding write-up, including detailed reporting and policy information, will be published after client review and approval.

Technology remains separate

Robotics and AI do not replace safeguarding, trusted adults, professional judgement or care. Read the separate innovation information for that topic.
